Mark will never waiver in his commitment to housing availability and affordability, mental health services, immigrant and refugee justice, healthcare and public safety. Mark was a featured speaker at the Zioness Action Fund launch at the Democratic National Convention last summer, and hosted one of the first vigils in America on October 8, alongside Congressman Adriano Espaillat, where he invited ZAF founder Amanda Berman to speak. He has always been a strong ally for the Jewish community, introducing legislation that would create a “Jewish Heritage Day” in New York City public schools. He has called out bigots who tear down Israeli hostage posters in the city, reaffirming his support for all those who had lost loved ones on October 7th. He has attended rallies standing up for Israel and unequivocally condemned antisemitic vandalism.

He is the chair of the Council Jewish Caucus and pushed for a council resolution condemning Hamas in the wake of October 7. He proudly attended ZAF’s Democratic National Convention event and consistently condemns anti-Israel hate. In 2021, when over 50 CUNY professors resigned due to the passing of an antisemitic resolution, Eric immediately stood with them; he continues to lead efforts to examine antisemitism at CUNY.  He participated in a New York state delegation trip to Israel and marched in the Israel Day Parade.  Eric has consistently proven himself a leader in the fight for progressive change, for students, seniors, and for members of marginalized communities.
